During Februrary 2025, I was artist in residence for a week at the Royal Observatory Edinburgh. My time there was concluded with a lovely informal discussion with Andy Lawrence Professor Regius of Astronomy at Edinburgh University. We covered a range of topics: Ruben Observatory LSST camera deep mapping of the sky, ESA's Euclid mission exploring the composition and evolution of the dark Universe and his personal specialism … black holes.
In addition to Professor Lawrence’s established areas within astronomy he is now involved in issues relating to space environmentalism in particular light pollution and debris from satellites and has published a book on the topic: Losing the Sky (2021).
